Motivate friends are like having your own personal cheerleader or motivational coach.

  • Make a list of your accomplishments!

Passing a difficult test, Bringing up your GPA or standing up for what is right even if it is uncomfortable doing so.

  • Learn from your mistakes!

Making mistakes is a part of life ( IT IS OK). You MUST identify, correct and learn from them in order to grow.

  • Don’t be ashamed to ask for help!

If something is happening or has happened to you in a negative way talk it out and make a positive resolution. 

Peer Pressure

Having Sex

Stealing

Just because a peer or boy/girl friend is pressuring you to have sex does not mean you have to. There are too many negative consequences that come along with it.

Stealing from anyone or any business is NEVER ok. You could be arrested, which will ruin your personal record in life and the possibility of getting a job. 

Smoking, Using Drugs, or Drinking

Smoking, using drugs, and drinking alcohol could possibly have a long term affect on you. Doing so can lead to you becoming an addict or even worse DYING. It also can impair your judgment and can cause you to possibly be taken advantage of by others.

In these peer pressure situation Stand Up and be a leader don’t be ashamed to:

  • Say No

  • Walk Away

  • Tell friends this behavior is LAME

Remember GREAT friends GIVE ADVICE and INFLUENCE their friends in POSITIVE WAYS. 

Parent Pressure

Do you have difficulty sometimes meeting your parents expectations? Most parents want you to have a better life than they did and to be sure you do that you do they become very hard on you. Believe it or not they do love you and really want only the best for you. Parents also know that you are growing up and some find it hard to ease up on you and relax in many areas of your life such as style of clothing, hair, college and career choice. Always communicate with them on the changes you would like to make so you both can find a common ground.  

Academic Pressures

Being a perfectionist can become a vicious cycle. Setting unrealistic expectations can cause you to have anxiety and dissatisfaction with your performance.
Set realistic goals for yourself based on your wants and needs. This will boost yourself-esteem.
Focus on the process of the activity not just your result.
Confront your fears in failure and understand you will live through all life’s challenges.

Skipping School

Skipping School is started for many reasons being rejected, feeling that you are not good enough or and outcast. 
Skipping School doesn’t solve any problems you MUST talk it out with a responsible adult.
Skipping School can also be life threating or become an addiction.

Derpression

Depression is a serious problem if left untreated. Depression can lead to problems at home, school drug abuse, isolation and death.
Signs of depression are constant sadness or feeling hopeless, lack of energy , loss of interested in activities.
If you are feeling any of these emotions constantly GET HELP talk to your parents, guidance counselor, an adult you can trust or call a 1-800 number.
